Website ListServ Policy
The MnGFOA website has a ListServ available to members. The ListServ is a tool used by members to share information easily via e-mail. When using the MnGFOA ListServ, members should remember the following:
- Use good judgment when sending messages because messages are not confidential.
- Recognize that any responses received are not intended to provide legal advice.
- Messages can and may be forwarded to individuals who are not subscribed to the listserv.
- Some subjects may not be appropriate for publication on a ListServ such as messages containing detailed information regarding specific individuals or situations.
- Use the ListServ to gather general information, or, if necessary, use hypothetical situations.
- Some of the potential risks could include violation of the data practices act for releasing nonpublic data, defamation claims, and waiver of the attorney/client privilege.
Members will not use the MnGFOA ListServ for:
- Posting any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive or illegal material.
- Posting any materials protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner.
- For solicitation or advertising including any based on political parties or affiliations.
- Jokes and/or entertainment-type messages.
Misuse of the MnGFOA ListServ could result in disciplinary action against the member, including loss of rights to use the ListServ and/or MnGFOA membership revocation by the MnGFOA Executive Board.
